the old-new normal

  My family is in my heart and soul. No matter what I do, always I am welcomed home. Sometimes I tell them that I hate them, but this is a lie because I love them more than anyone else in the world. We fight almost every holiday, but in the end we all eat dinner and clean up the mess together. Every morning we share black coffee and we fight over who can use the one usable bathroom. This has been a strange year to say the least. My younger brother was studying in the city, I was living and working in Piura, and my parents were at home. Then the COVID- 19 happened. For over six months we have all been gathered back to our home. Like birds going back to their nest. I have been working online. Teaching English to Chinese and Peruvian students. Reading books, exercising, and working. This is life now. I keep asking myself, “when will things get back to normal”? Truth be told, things are looking up. The world continues to go around the sun.
