ANOTHER I Am Poem

I am not-religious-but-a-grand-believer with faith from a majority Italian American public high school. I am from the sunflower and the sand bar during low tide. I am from bagels every Sunday and fight with family members every holiday, Carol, Jerry and Galen. I am from you're not empathetic, and interrupt and correct you while you are speaking. From stop playing Game Boy and  clean your room. I’m from Long Branch, pasta, and macaroni. From a grandfather that married a Cristian woman and had to leave his Jewish family behind and was a friend of cops, I am from a house built during the civil war.

I Am Poem

I am a nomad. I wonder what happens to a soul when someone dies. I hear a mosquito zzzz close by my ear. I see a future bright and filled with coffee. I want to want to be organized. I am a runner and talker. I pretend to be tired. I feel nostalgia for playing manhunt and not having to wake up for work early. I touch my beard when bored. I worry about not worrying about the future. I cry when thinking about past loves and regret my actions. I am a dreamer. I understand I am simple but complex at the same time. I say a word to my internal god-that-i-made-up. I dream a dream that never ends. I try all types of foods, even insects. I hope I can return home. I am a caterpillar that has yet to transform into a butterfly.
